Cubic Zirconia,
Cubic Zirconia Ring, Cubic Zirconia Earrings, Cubic Zirconia Sets!!!
Because a (CZ) Cubic zirconia is so optically close to diamond
it takes a trained eye to tell the difference. A few key features of CZ which distinguish it from
a diamond, are observable only under a microscope or magnifying
glass.
Some of the ways to tell the difference between a
diamond and a CZ are:
-
Dispersion: In laymen's term, how the
gemstone shows color or prismatic fire. Kind of like the prism
of colors when light passes through a crystal. Imagine the
beautiful colors of light in a pair of cubic zirconia earrings.
-
Weight: A Cubic zirconia weighs about 1.7
times more than a diamond of the same size. If you had a same
sized Cubic Zirconia Ring and a Diamond Engagement
Ring side by side, you'd be hard pressed to tell the
difference.
-
Refractive index: Scientific mumbo
jumbo measuring how much light flows through the gemstone. A CZ
will have less luster than diamond, but an untrained eye can't
tell the difference. A C Z looks the same.
-
Flaws: The production of cubic zirconia is
virtually flawless. Whereas most diamonds have some sort of
defect.
-
Cut: The CZ and diamond are cut
different as to accentuate their uniqueness. Which boils down to
one looks better cut one way, while the other looks better cut
another.
-
Color: A Cubic Ziconia can be made
completely colorless, whereas only a rare diamond is truly
colorless, most having a tinge of yellow or brown to some
extent. You could have a Cubic Zirconia ring that would be the
equivalent to a perfect "D" on diamond's color grading scale.
-
Thermal Conductivity: A CZ will act as a
insulator and not transfer heat whereas a diamond will ( more so
than copper) conduct heat. This can be important to a Jeweler
while making or repairing jewelry.
Manufacturers have recently tried improving CZ by adding a film coating of diamond-like carbon (DLC) in a process using chemical vapor deposition. Resulting with a harder more lustrous material that is more like
a diamond. The coating gives the CZ more characteristics of a diamond
therefore making it even harder to differentiate between it and a diamond.

What customers are saying about All -Seasons-Shopping:
I lost my cubic zirconia engagement ring and replaced it before my
fiance found out! Thank goodness it wasn't a real diamond.
